First?
ive always been critical of brock purdy cuz i felt he was more so a product of the all pro level talent that he was surrounded by but he completely proved me wrong in his last 2 playoff games. he is genuinely a great quarterback, though a bit too aggressive if i may be critical
Should they have run the ball on 3 and 4?
SF should not be the 1st receiver – comment from Malaysia
Purdy did everything he could to win, but the rest of the team let them down (aside from CMC and Jennings, both were key players in this game)
O-line folded in critical situations
Receivers were getting clamped all game
That KC defense and secondary proved itself once again
any lip readers?
At 4:30 Aiyuk is watching the play and jogging. WHYYYYYY?
If he makes that block on #38, CMC is 100% taking it for a touchdown. We spent the last couple weeks talking about Chase Young’s effort on certain plays, but Aiyuk took this one play off that could’ve potentially won them the superbowl.
Old guy here. That 3rd and 15 was crucial. Purdy was SO close to a sack by Chris Jones but threw the ball or lost it. That hold by McDuffie was just about his only mistake. I thought it was great defense until I saw the replay, it was a clear hold, though it didn’t look intentional.
That 3rd and 4 from the KC 8 yardline is a real brain teaser, so many what ifs. If Jones gets blocked, Purdy has time to hit Aiyuk in the end zone for an easy TD. Sneed got his feet tied up, and fell down. By the time he got up, Aiyuk was 7 or 8 yards ahead of him in the clear. I didn’t see it till the 3rd replay. Thank goodness the niners right side Oline had a miscommunication problem, allowing a free rusher like Jones. The man is 6’5” with a huge wingspan, and pretty quick for his size. Purdy had no chance of getting the ball away accurately. The Chiefs really dodged a bullet on that series.
I wonder if the niners should have just run the ball on 3rd down, and 4th down if they didn’t get it. They would have put the Chiefs offense in a terrible position on the field if they didn’t score the TD. It seems SF drifted away from their strength of running the ball, especially behind Trent Williams their AllPro lineman. I know hindsight is always 20/20, but I would have stayed with the run with McCaffery, and if I don’t score a TD, i make MaHomes earn it by driving 70+ yards from their own 1 yard line to score or kick a winning FG. That’s just my take.
I was surprised by how well Brock Purdy played. I really thought the Chiefs defense would confuse and rattle him a little more. He didn’t throw any picks and was only sacked once. He missed a few throws, but with the rush coming pretty hard, along with the blitzing, and the coverage of KC’s defensive backs, it would be expected he would miss at least a few. I was impressed with the 2nd year QB picked in the 7th round. I thought they put too much on him. The Chiefs pass defense had been a top 5 all season. Their run defense, not so good. I just wonder why the niners, with the best RB in the league, didn’t commit more to the run, especially in the red zone, in overtime, in the biggest game of the year.
I think head coach KS should take the criticism for that. They essentially played right into the Chiefs strength. Doesn’t make any sense to me at all.
Oh well, B2B for Chiefs Kingdom!
Easy to say in retrospect that the Niners should have gone for it and of course they should have. Shanahan was unfamiliar with this new OT scenario and possibly a little stodgy thinking was involved in taking the first OT offensive opportunity, and then not going for a touchdown on fourth down against the very dangerous Chiefs.
If you watch the off ball players, they were not blocking. On the Trent Williams hold early in the game, he and another lineman let two Chiefs come right at Purdy on the scramble. On the long CMC run in your video, if Aiyuk stays with his block on Sneed, CMC goes for a touchdown. On the muffed punt, Kittle was standing there watching the play while Chief players were getting into position for whatever happened.
@6:19 you have to give this to Debo just look at this advantage nobody even travels with him…he gets the ball with a full head of steam. fake to cmc and shoot it to Debo either way he walks in or at the 1 yard line. It’s not like Kyle hasn’t called that number many times before.
ngl bro can you post some other stuff besides niners and chiefs ???
Can you talk about the first 3 drives of 49ers in the 3rd quarter? I felt like that was a missed opporunity where they went 3 and out 3 times with 8 passes. (the first drives was a short field with interception)
In hindsight, yeah you want to go for it instead of kicking a field goal. But in the moment, KC hadn't driven down the field for a TD all night. Their only TD by that point was after that botched reception after a 3 and out. You probably feel like there is a good chance you will get the ball 3rd.
Purdy next year may get the sophomore jinx and not be as good as last year 2023 Time will tell …..will see……..
aiyuk was wide open in the middle of the end zone
he had juked out the defender who had fallen down
if chris is blocked….purdy is able to see aiyuk and its a sure td
This drive is the perfect example of the moment being too big for the 49ers
